Twitter is another free social networking application that I just signed up for. The basic function of it is to tell others anything you want, whenever you want. Think of it as a status update. Since most of my friends have a blackberry or an iphone, I think it would be fun to see what everyone is up to. I also have it linked to my website so I can update my twitter feed in real time. Anyway, give it a try…I think Twitter is going to be as popular as facebook really soon.
Blackberry OTA Downloader is an alternative way to install programs to your blackberry other than OTA (over the air). Basically, instead of navigating to a website on your blackberry browser, you just input the URL in the software, obtain the .cod and .alx files, then drag and drop them into your SD card on your blackberry. Then, while on your blackberry, you can navigate to the file and it will install your applications. This software is useful if the website that you have to go to doesn’t have a mobile site, and it will also save you data for those of you who don’t have an unlimited data plan.
Google Latitude is a new feature that can pinpoint your friends locations. Great tool for all you stalkers out there! To download Google Maps 3.0 w/ Latitude, just visit google.com/gmm from your BlackBerry’s web browser!
Poynt is an application that I tried out on my Blackberry Bold. It integrates the GPS to find your location. From there, you can search for anything and it will show directions, phone numbers, etc. I like it because of the movie feature. You can search for movie theatre’s, top 10 movies, and show times. Don’t know what the movie is about? It will give you a description of it and can even show you the trailer for the movie! Now that’s sick!
